Description
octave 4.0.0 was released May 29th: See http://www.gnu.org/software/octave/NEWS-4.0.html for details.
This update has some issues, particularly with clang. See the attached main.log.

A couple of notes:
1) http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?43298 has been resolved by whitelisting macports-clang-3.6 (It also works with Apple clang from Xcode 6.3, but with a lot more warnings)
2) http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?41178 is still unresolved. This is the current hang-up, see main.log.gz
