When I try installing bob, I get the following error on llvm-3.5:

When I try manually going to ​http://packages.macports.org/llvm-3.5/ and downloading llvm-3.5-3.5.2_3.darwin_14.x86_64.tbz2, I am also unable to open it.

Update: I have installed xcode, but it's still not working. I also tried manually downloading llvm-3.5.2.src.tar.xz and installing with that, but port doesn't recognize it and tries to install it again (and fails).

Are you sure the suffix is correct? The port script might be looking for the .tar.gz version.

I meant I downloaded llvm-3.5.2.src.tar.xz, and manually ran make off that, but then if I try port installed llvm-3.5.2, it says it's not installed.

You can't do that. You’ve got to download the source, place it in the right directory (/opt/local/macports/var/distfiles/incoming if I remember correctly, but it’s off the top of my head) and then restart the port install command.
