problem occurs when trying to install db48 in order to install python27 on MacPorts

Error: Unable to execute port: couldn't open "/opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_databases_db48/db48/work/.macports.db48.state": no space left on device

What do they mean when it saying no space left on device, my friend upgraded my device space. there is plenty space left over. Cannot understand the main issue.

I run sudo port install db48, It occurs error as above.

I assume you meant “python27” in the ticket summary.

As per the ​MacPorts Guide, please try cleaning the port and installing again. If that fails, attach the complete main.log file to this ticket.

% sudo port clean db48 python27
% sudo port install python27

In addition to what Larry said, please verify the volume in Disk Utility, as you can get spurious errors like that when there is filesystem corruption.

I solved the problem by cleaning up more space in my disk drive as your suggested. MacPorts finally works perfectly on installing python. Thank you for the quick response. I appreciate your help.
