When I try to access the trac repository browser I get an error message "trac error". I need this in order to reinstall an older version of one of the ports which is no longer in my system

Where did you get that link? You don't need that link to do what you want.

The link is from the macports web pages:

  • when selecting in the menu "Available ports" > search > click on the portfile
  • in the HOWTO section, "How to install an older version of a port", using the link ". Browse the repository "

Thanks
