osxfuse fails to compile on El Capitan 10.11.2 with latest Xcode 7.2

It says:

failed: no supported version of Xcode found

I note that I have the latest macports and have just upgraded and compiled many ports successfully (e.g. gcc5 @ 5.3.0).

I had osxfuse 2.8.0 and encfs 1.8.1 installed previously from macports, and they were working fine. The above error appears when trying to upgrede osxfuse (in my case: port upgrade outdated)
