Dear Developers:

The problem is not solved even though i tried to use all solutions on the Interent. The following is the details of the problem:

sudo port -v selfupdate
--->  Updating MacPorts base sources using rsync
rsync: read error: Connection reset by peer (54)
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at /BuildRoot/Library/Caches/com.apple.xbs/Sources/rsync/rsync-47/rsync/io.c(604) [receiver=2.6.9]
Command failed: /usr/bin/rsync -rtzv --delete-after rsync://rsync.macports.org/release/tarballs/base.tar /opt/local/var/macports/sources/rsync.macports.org/release/tarballs
Exit code: 12
Error: Error synchronizing MacPorts sources: command execution failed

The rsync server is working fine for me; must be a problem specific to your network. Talk to your network administrator, or configure MacPorts to use a syncing method other than rsync (such as svn or http), and use "sudo port sync" instead of "sudo port selfupdate" (and manually install new MacPorts versions when they're released.
