Hi,
Freshly installed DIA 0.97.3_0 hangs when placing an object on the canvas.
Environment: OS X 10.11.3 MacPorts v2.3.4 XQuartz 2.7.8 (xorg-server 1.16.4)

If you drag and drop an object from the palette window to the canvas window then the focus does not change. What you're seeing is not a hang, it's the focus remaining in the palette window.
If you click on the object after dragging and dropping then the focus will transfer to the canvas window.

You should report the problem to the developers of dia. There is no maintainer for dia at MacPorts at this time.
