Description
For some ports, selecting a variant is essential for most users. For example, postgresql8 and mysql4 have to be installed with the "server" variant so the RDBMS servers work. I believe that this is the most common use of those two ports.
For such ports, a warning like "You have not selected any ports. You might want to run 'port install postgresql8 +server' if you want to run a PostgreSQL 8 server" should be displayed. This would remove some confusion.

Perhaps we just need "some" documentation - what about hacking the wiki?
