Description (last modified by ryandesign (Ryan Carsten Schmidt))
even though ticket:49634 is marked as closed, support for a proper port for mysql does not seem to be completed.
There exists mysql57 and mysql57-server ports but a socket for mysql57 does not seem to exist. Also, the how to page for installing mysql (wiki:howto/MySQL) stops at mysql 56.
sudo bin/mysql -u root -p ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/opt/local/var/run/mysql57/mysqld.sock' (2)
Can we have this updated please?

As far as I know, the mysql57 and other mysql ports work fine. The socket will exist after you properly configure and start the server. Anyone is free to edit and improve the wiki. Not sure there's any action we need to take before closing this ticket.
