Description (last modified by ryandesign (Ryan Carsten Schmidt))

The tarballs on the mirror rsync://sea.us.rsync.macports.org/release/tarballs/ports.tar and base.tar appear to be old versions from August 5th. After sudo port selfupdate, there are no outdated packages and the following message is displayed:

Warning: port definitions are more than two weeks old, consider updating them by running 'port selfupdate'.

Please update the mirror with the latest files.

Yes, when we moved the primary MacPorts rsync server to the Friedrich-Alexander University, they noticed a problem with how PNNL was mirroring the files: they were getting a list of all rsync modules, and mirroring all of them. This worked on the old rsync server because it only contained MacPorts modules, but the FAU server contains many more modules, so in order to avoid PNNL downloading terabytes of information they didn't need and didn't intend to have, FAU blocked PNNL from accessing the new rsync server until they could fix their scripts. We reported the problem to the PNNL admins, but did not hear back. Until they fix this, you can switch to a different mirror server.

Would it be a bad misuse to redirect that subdomain to another working mirror until they fix the problem?
