Error: org.macports.fetch for port py27-setuptools returned: fetch failed

Reported by: noloader (Jeffrey Walton) Owned by: jmroot (Joshua Root)
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 2.3.5
Keywords: Cc:
Port: py-setuptools

Description

I'm working on a PowerMac with OS X 10.5. Its stalled attempting to migrate to 2.3.5 (shown below).

Attempting the workaround for similar reports, like 43307, results in a bad checksum:

PowerMac:py-setuptools$ sudo curl -k -O https://pypi.python.org/packages/source/s/setuptools/setuptools-28.8.0.tar.gz

Your log starts with the file already fetched and so doesn't contain the failure reason, but this is almost certainly a duplicate of the existing tickets about 10.5 not being able to fetch from pypi. This is compounded by our mirroring not currently working.

Your curl fetch is clearly also failing since it only transfers 315 bytes. And fetching from the URL you used I see those 315 bytes are:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<Error><Code>NoSuchKey</Code><Message>The specified key does not exist.</Message><Key>source/s/setuptools/setuptools-28.8.0.tar.gz</Key><RequestId>5F47DC563D5717C3</RequestId><HostId>VkgXbpzzyODC/jkbUv4jpqEHLdWdlz7+8nQXRqClhs/AeiyMkQEAq9of/xnvANJyYZpM6/BZpWY=</HostId></Error>

And the status is 404. You need to use the other URL, https://files.pythonhosted.org/packages/source/s/setuptools/setuptools-28.8.0.tar.gz (and the -L flag).

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
