http://www.macports.org is not connection even though all sub addresses work properly https://www.macports.org seems to redirect and do the same at the moment of writing.

I cannot reproduce this. http://www.macports.org redirects to https://www.macports.org for me.

I cannot reproduce this either. Everything works as expected for me.
What exact problem do you see, issue with connection, TLS verification, etc.? Which browser (including version) are you using?
