Description
The attached patch updates the R port to the latest version: 3.3.3. Also, the problem with R's configure not correctly recognizing the version of zlib has been fixed so the patch phase is no longer necessary.

Maintainer here: no objection from me. Go ahead and apply the patch.
Is there any resource I could use to test fixes for older platforms? My machines only go back as far as El Capitan. Thanks.
