gdb upstream reports that gdb version 7.12.1 is required on OS 10.12 (sierra) and later

Have you tested your patch? The checksums need to be updated as well.

I wasn't aware that there was a way to test a port locally. I found some instructions at ​https://trac.macports.org/wiki/howto/PatchLocal, but perhaps ​https://guide.macports.org/chunked/project.contributing.html#project.contributing.updates could suggest something explicitly?

I'll attach a new patch in a moment, with updated checksums. It builds and runs locally for me.
