Description
Hi:
The latest emacs Portfile (cvs rev 1.43) "removes the version-changing 'devel' variant". While I have no opinion on whether version-changing variants are good or bad, this breaks the carbon and gtk variants which are dependent on it. I use the carbon variant and its being broken saddens me -- maybe if you don't want a version-changing variant the "devel" variant could be moved to a separate port?

ok, I've just created the emacs-devel port, which sports carbon & gtk variants. The original emacs port no longer has these (there) non-functional variants.
Please test and report back - we currently have no maintainer for emacs.

cool, just built a working carbon variant with emacs-devel. looks good. thanks a lot for your charity to all the emacs users! i suppose someone should go tell the dude at http://www.mindlube.com/products/emacs/ about the new port.
why do the vi-users have to fix the emacs port? crap - ok: So I may remove the gtk & carbon variant from the original emacs port; I'll add a new emacs-devel port with the "devel" variants setting - currently testing to have at least the variant-less version compile successfully.
