as we can see here https://github.com/CodeCatalyst/MaterialDesignColorPicker, It's 'Open source based(MIT)', and very awesome picker. it helps to pick more beautiful color and more harmonious color combination. so, I love it, I'm very happy to intruduce it, many designer, developer, publisher and another one who related on color based design also will love it.

Why should this be in MacPorts? Why is that better than downloading it from the project's GitHub page?

because, MacPorts can have some kind of scripts to automate fetch, configure, compile and install, purge.
and some of person who is macports user, and he/she doesn't know about compiling source code can get convenience way to have program be able to run. :)
