Actually now I remembered more details: v008 has a dependency on libudev, and as far as I know libudev (especially after being merged to systemd) only works/builds on Linux.

It's not possible. I tried that when I took maintainership of this port. v007 was the last version that didn't have a Linux dependency. v008 only builds/works on Linux (it needs
/proc/bus/usb/devicesif I remember correctly).Unless somebody forks or contributes to upstream to make it work on non-Linux systems, I'm afraid that this port will remain stuck to v007 forever.
