Configuration for valgrind fails on macOS Sierra (Version 10.12.6)

Xcode 9.2 Build version 9C40b
Apple LLVM version 9.0.0 (clang-900.0.39.2)

This looks to be essentially a duplicate of that ticket, but it looks like the error is not so much 10.12 or 10.13 but Xcode 9.x.
