Error: Failed to build R: command execution failed

Reported by: caverac Owned by: kjell.konis@…
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 2.4.2

Port: R

Description

Hi there,

I recently upgraded to High Sierra, followed this link and for the most part it worked: allowed me to get back up and running with my ports. Some of them failed to install though, the critical one for me is R. I got this error

--->  Computing dependencies for R
--->  Building R
Error: Failed to build R: command execution failed
Error: See /opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_math_R/R/main.log for details.
Error: Follow https://guide.macports.org/#project.tickets to report a bug.
Error: Processing of port R failed

(The log is attached below). I read Ticket 48471 which seems to have a similar output error, but didn't help me. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help

Happy holidays, C

This may be a duplicate of #55310. Try upgrading Xcode and the Xcode command line tools to Xcode 9.

You're right! That solved it. I ran xcode-select --install first, but actually never did update Xcode first. Thanks for your help
