Actually, this seems to have changed now, since both the website and the GitHub releases page now list rc10 as the latest version. The API hasn't caught up with it yet, though.

The download page has a link https://api.textmate.org/downloads/release?os=10.8 that redirects to https://github.com/textmate/textmate/releases/download/v2.0-rc.4/TextMate_2.0-rc.4.tbz, but for recent macOS versions e.g. https://api.textmate.org/downloads/release?os=10.11, it redirects to https://github.com/textmate/textmate/releases/download/v2.0-rc.10/TextMate_2.0-rc.10.tbz.

Replying to neverpanic:

Where do you see rc10 mentioned on the web site?

http://macromates.com/download now says "TextMate 2.0 beta 10". I assumed that's beta 10.
Nonetheless, TextMate now prompts users to update, so I think we should ship rc10. I has a couple of quirks that need patching, though, such as references to the Developer's home directory in its build files.

beta 10 is 2 years old. It is not the same as rc 10.

According to
port -d livecheck textmate2
, and the "TextMate 2.0 (latest)" link on the download page, the latest version recommended by the developer is still 2.0-rc.4, so we should not update the port. See comment:ticket:55486:1.
