Opencv @3.4 +contrib +python27 fails to build

Description

Unable to build Opencv with +contrib+python27. I had to do this after updating macports outdated. For some reason, Opencv 3.3 broke when libavcodec changed versions from 57 to 58, but that's another issue.

This is on a Mac with High Sierra.

Looks like there are two other outstanding tickets for the same issue. Both are a few months old. Any progress or workaround available?

I was able to fix the issue by:

  • uninstalling protobuf-cpp
  • installing protobuf3-cpp
  • running 'sudo port install opencv +contrib +python27'
