I tried running the call to the configure script manually and supplying the full path to boost, but that failed too:

I'm having trouble with upgrading other ports that also cite not being able to find a version of the boost library, e.g. source-highlight.

mkvtoolnix 30.1.0 is not compatible with boost 1.71.0. I need to update mkvtoolnix to a newer version to fix that. See also #58996 for a different manifestation of this problem.
