Description
Upstream has updated py-language-server to 0.30.0
I also note that we don't seem to support python 3.8 yet, not sure if that's because upstream doesn't?

The upgrade part of this ticket has been resolved (the port is not at version 0.31.8). I will add a PY38 subport once upstream declares support and its dependencies are available. Closing this ticket for now.

True, but updating it right now to its latest version will break
py-spyder-devel
. I'd need to update (or patch) that port first, but updating is complicated due to a new dependency on thepy-pyobjc
framework.Regarding the Python 3.8 support: there are a few upstream issues with PY38 dependencies (e.g.,
py-rope
andpy-python-jsonrpc-server
), which do not pass their test-suite; so I've been reluctant to add py38 subports for now. I'll try and take a look in the weekend to see if any of that has cleared up in the meantime.
