Since the errors in the log are ssl-related, I presume this software is not compatible with openssl 1.1.
The ticket you mentioned above points out that skipfish is hosted on Google Code, which is obsolete, but the ticket does not mention where the project has moved to. If you are aware of a new home for the development of this project, maybe a new version is available there that supports openssl 1.1.
Otherwise, the software may have been abandoned by its developers, and since this port has no maintainer, someone would need to volunteer to fix the port, either by patching it to support openssl 1.1 or by making it use openssl 1.0 instead.
