#60572 closed defect (fixed)

emacs-app @26.3_6: The application "Emacs" can't be opened.

Reported by: hexadecagram ({16/7}) Owned by: drkp (Dan Ports)
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 2.6.2
Keywords: Cc:
Port: emacs-app

Description

I have installed emacs-app with no variants.

Seems the most recent upgrade to Command Line Tools may be causing a popup with the text in the Summary of this ticket when launching from Spotlight.

When launched using Finder, nothing happens, no popup, nothing.

Also this:

% /Applications/MacPorts/Emacs.app/Contents/MacOS/Emacs --help
zsh: killed /Applications/MacPorts/Emacs.app/Contents/MacOS/Emacs --help
% open -a Emacs
LSOpenURLsWithRole() failed for the application /Applications/MacPorts/Emacs.app with error -10810.
% /Applications/MacPorts/Emacs.app/Contents/MacOS/Emacs --debug-init
zsh: killed /Applications/MacPorts/Emacs.app/Contents/MacOS/Emacs --debug-init

I assume this is on Catalina? I will see if I can reproduce it (my Catalina machine is in the shop right now...)

Yes this is on Catalina. It seems a fix has been pushed through, which I caught and installed. It's working again.
