current versions in MacPorts are: swi-prolog @8.2.4 and swi-prolog-devel @8.3.23, that's inline with what upstream has listed as "stable" and "development" release, respectively. In fact the lead developer is the maintainer of the ports here as well, so they are pretty much always up-to-date.

In short, if you want to have version 8.3.23, you should install the swi-prolog-devel port instead.
