Now that I read through the messages you posted about this on the list, I finally understand the reason for the build.target line. However, I'm not too sure of the effects of the route you chose: an empty "build.target" line should pass nothing as the target, and make(1) ussually takes an empty target as equivalent of "all", which is what you don't want. But if this is working for you, then nevermind my comments, there must be something i'm not fully grasping.
One last, rather superflous comment about the port: you use "${destroot}/${prefix}/bin" as the installation path, but the ${destroot} definition already includes its trailing "/" , so you can replace that with "${destroot}${prefix}/bin". The former will get you "/foo/work/destroot<prefix>/blah" while the latter translates into "/foo/work/destroot/<prefix>/blah", which looks cleaner. Again, this is completely irrelevant, you can have as many / as you like, paths will still work, so consider this just as an informational comment ;-)
