It should be more like the macports.org page -- crisp, clear, three sentences is all you need.
It's very confusing to wade into, far more complicated that it needs to be (IMHO).
And the older systems stuff is very dating to macports, and should all be moved off to another page somewhere to get it out of the initial line of reading.

While I agree that our documentation would benefit from being reorganized and rewritten and styled with more modern CSS, as far as I know the instructions there are still accurate. If I'm not seeing a specific problem that you're noticing, please point it out.
