While I agree that our documentation would benefit from being reorganized and rewritten and styled with more modern CSS, as far as I know the instructions there are still accurate. If I'm not seeing a specific problem that you're noticing, please point it out.

The instructions should be:

Run:

xcode-select --install

agree to the license.

Then select one of these links to install MacPorts for your version of the Mac operating system:

macOS Big Sur v11
macOS Catalina v10.15
macOS Mojave v10.14
macOS High Sierra v10.13

Older OS? See here.

All that older systems confusion should be moved off to another page. Yuk.
