Description (last modified by kencu (Ken))
I used Macports to install Freeciv on my Powerbook running 10.5.8. It compiled and installed all the dependencies and then Freeciv without error messages. When I opened Freeciv, it started but there is no text and where there should be text, it is just placeholders. Do I need to install a missing font?
I was advised to post here instead on on the issues page.

I can tell you I see the exact same thing on my Leopard PPC system, so it's not just your system.

but on 10.4 Tiger Intel, freeciv-sdl works perfectly, it seems, and has fonts and text visible.

Same on two Tiger Intel systems, actually. One of them has dozens of fonts installed, and I thought that might be it, but the other one has zero fonts installed, and freeciv-sdl still shows nice text in the window.
So -- it would not appear to be a problem with having a font missing that should be installed. All have libsdl_ttf installed, all have freetype installed.
It's a mystery at present.
