I didn’t delete the other ports as they are not mine; some may be able to function with hdf5 support disabled; I don’t know.

The point wasn't really to bring back py27-h5py, but to remove the dependencies on it.

The (two years past py27 EOL) version of h5py that worked on 27 requires a multiple-feature-releases old version of HDF5.
If someone wants to manage a separate old hdf5 installation to support an old Python version, I certainly won’t stop them, but I personally don’t have the bandwidth for that.
