this looks to be a dup of #62994
I was going to make a patch, but it turned out your patch is implemented already in the port file:
if {${os.platform} eq "darwin" && ${os.major} < 10} { # https://trac.macports.org/ticket/62994 patchfiles-append patch-m4-confdir-error.diff }
And I have the error on darwin9, obviously, since building for ppc64 (not on 10.6 PPC), so it should have been applied.
