But now py36-pyFAI and py35-pyFAI are broken due to the removal of py35-pyopencl and py36-pyopencl.

Well mako @1.2.4 declares to support only 3.7 .. 3.10. So it probably make some sense that py36 subport has been removed, though I see that py27 and py311 subports are also provided.
Now I am not aware which policy is in place wrt to phasing out old subports, but if dependencies cannot be maintained we probably need to remove depending ports.

But maybe this ticket is not the right place to address py-pyFAI related problems ?
