It's unclear to me why it's necessary to override CFLAGS
and CXXFLAGS
in configure.args
at all, or mess with the archflags. Why can't the define simply be appended to configure.cppflags
?

Using
configure.cc_archflags
unconditionally would break +universal everywhere, not just on 10.6.
