gscan2pdf +x11: on startup all dialogs/windows are blank/white

When I launch gscan2pdf, it starts x11 as expected but all windows are blank.

This is with version @2.13.2_0, on El Capitan.

Any idea what's going on?

On my Monterey system, I get a crash instead.

worked when I updated it six months ago on the systems I tried it on.

I was really on my way to gcstar, however, which works beautifully for me now on every system.

I get the white windows running gscan2pdf +x11 as well. I tried with sudo but no better.

gcstar works +x11 (but the fonts are not right).

On the other hand, reinstalling gtk3 +quartz, and both gscan2pdf and gcstar work perfectly.

for information: Installing gtk3 @3.24.34_0+x11 doesn't change anything
