Looks like this is specific to 10.7–10.12? ​https://ports.macports.org/port/rb33-sdl2/details Perhaps worth adding the tags, otherwise I thought the port was just broken :)

No system at hand to try at the moment, but I will look into this, I got 10.8 at home.
