Description
The current version of smlnj port is 110.99.3, which doesn't support macOS Sonoma. The latest version (110.99.5) from official web site indeed supports Sonoma (but I still like the unified install path under /opt/local, provided by MacPorts).
Thanks.

Replying to tobypeterson:
Last time I tried (with 110.99.4), it didn’t build on arm64, and I no longer have any intel machines readily available. I’ll try again with this version.
Thanks, now I see the reason. From SML/NJ's web site it still says "we are working on support for the Arm64 architecture", thus perhaps the latest released version still cannot run on arm64.
Anyway, I'm still using Intel Macs, and will be glad to help testing the updated port definitions.
Regards,
Chun

Either of you, you can submit a pull request to update the port and GitHub Actions will perform automated builds on Intel and Apple Silicon machines.

I just submitted a PR for this https://github.com/macports/macports-ports/pull/25007
This is my first contribution, so any feedback is more than welcome.
