GTk4 quartz/x11 concurrency please?

Description
Starting with GTk4 (for which there are still few dependents), could it please be possible to redesign things so the X11 and Quartz variants can be present on a single system INCLUDING applications/libs built against them? Ideally such that it would at least be possible to have GTk4/Quartz versions in addition to GTk3/X11 versions of some applications.
My current reason I'd like to see this is to have a GTk4/Quartz version of epiphany in addition to an (older) GTk3/X11 version that can also be used remotely. This would of course require 2 versions of webkit2-gtk (an older and a newer, undoubtedly) in addition to all the other GTk libraries.
