Description
As experienced by those attending WWDC, the standard 'vi' on Panther is now vim. Not everyone loves vim (many non-standard extensions) and nvi, what we used before, is quite standard (plus it has some nice extensions of its own). It would be nice to have a port that you could install and get 'nvi' installed by name (/opt/local/bin/nvi or whatever).

Might I suggest that the index be updated automatically if at all possible, e.g. via cron? Obviously, the sooner I can find the port w/o using CVS, the better (a manual update is in order), but long- term, the updates should be automated, right?

Ole, do you want to be the maintainer of it? I don't think Jordan would mind, as he is a busy man.

changed the port file to add the program prefix n, so that it gets install as nvi.
The port already exists, but the index has not been updated since Feb, so we need to synchronize the index with the ports we have.
