The file originally downloaded has a bad checksum (I just grabbed it and mine matches the Portfile). I'd suggest cleaning (sudo port clean --all popt) and trying again.

Afterwards, it seemed to recursively append the port name to the distpath looking for the archive, after failing the checksum. The Portfile looks normal, so I don't see anything there which would cause such behaviour.

Why it didn't stop after encountering an error would also be an issue.

What command did you run to cause all this?

I just ran port -cuvad upgrade as I usually do. I think I added a -f to get it to actually upgrade, instead of build and carp about an existing version.

When I removed the work directory and tried again, it worked fine. the distfile was not present, only an older version.
