Description
I have installed the Gnome desktop suite from DarwinPorts 1.2 on Mac OS X 10.4.5 and natuilus will not display icons based on the mime types of files. It knows the mime types (in the properties dialog) but does not display a corresponding icon. The icons are available to nautilus as I can change them to the correct icon using the properties dialog and choosing a custom icon. I have set the environment variables XDG_DATA_DIRS and XDG_CONFIG_DIRS to /opt/local/share and /opt/local/etc/xdg respectively but still no go.

Try this command:
sudo update-mime-database /opt/local/share/mime
and report if this problem continues.
Thank you.
Sorry about the delayed response.

It was reported in bug 7483* that the installation of shared-mime-info seems to address this problem.
Updated (in CVS) nautilus portfile to require shared-mime-info and run update-mime-database in post-install.
Closing bug, marking it fixed.
Assigning to maintainer.
