In markd@'s recent update to this port (<http://cvs.opendarwin.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/dports/perl/p5-dbd-mysql/Portfile?rev=1.7&content-type=text/x-cvsweb-markup>), he mentions that '3.x says "developer release" and looks dangerous'; is that still an issue?

As far as I understood, 3.0002 was the latest release version and 3.0002_5 was the latest dev release.
3.0002 is the version that is currently installed though CPAN.
If you would rather hold off on this update. You are welcome to close this ticket and I will create a new one at a later time.
I was just hoping that we could get to a version that didn't require the "kludge" that is the current portfile. This "kludge" looks like it may affect this port from working on mactels.

According to the information on the CPAN download site, that appears to be correct. When you search for a module on the site it automatically pulls up the highest revision, which for this module, happens to be a developer release. But if you go back to 3.0002, it does not say developer release. I didn't realize this when I updated the port.

That kludge probably isn't doing what you may be thinking, as it is simply removing a possible '-arch i368' and '-arch ppc' from the CFLAGS when building on Mac OS X Server. Of course, this was done back when DP wasn't requiring all of its dependencies to be installed by itself (mysql in this case), and this kludge let the module build against the MySQL which ships with Server...in the end, it probably should be removed anyway. Or is, now that I've committed your patch.
Thanks.
