Looks like this will need a small patch, as the src/Makefile doesn't completely use DESTDIR when installing. When building, I see

make install-exec-hook mkdir -p /opt/local/var/scripturechecks mkdir: /opt/local/var/scripturechecks: Permission denied

during the destroot phase, and it should be doing things against the destroot path; this appears to be at the very end of src/Makefile...

I attached a patch and a Portfile that uses it. That seems to do the trick. Send the patch to the developer and he'll fix the next release. When you update the scripturechecks port to the next release in the future, make sure to remove the patchfiles statement in the portfile because it will have been fixed at the source.
