Someone I know posted this in subversion but from these links, you can see it is a larger openssl issue.

In fact, I see from reading the source that OpenSSL itself fixed this (a different way) in 0.9.8c, so we should be alright after we pull that release in.

Please mark closed. I see we've upgraded to 0.9.8c now, and I've confirmed it fixes my MacPorts build of subversion.

The corresponding Debian bug is #338006. This message from their bug log identifies the cause and provides a patch. The next message in the log notes the bug's been fixed.
