I actually disagree that the add-ons should be done as a variant since the FreeBSD port, which a great number of people use, has since bundled all the functionality together into one new thing called "xv" and we should simply track that. To really use variants to "extend" the port would also require making variants for tiff, png and pdf support as well since none were a standard part of xv's original feature set. It's far better to have a single xv port which "handles all media", just as various cinematic and graphics programs like mplayer do. Committed pretty much as-is; nice port, thanks!
