(never goes any further, just hangs here. Last command issued to shell was rsync, which has not terminated. MacOSX 10.4.10 Macports 1.520)

rsync has been working fine for all this time. If the issue reappears please report it on the macports-users mailing list first to gather the feedback of other users first.
