Description
giflib has a configure error on my powerbook g4 ppc. I'll attach the config.log, but here's the relevant error from config.log:
gcc version 4.0.1 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 5367) configure:2992: $? = 0 configure:2999: /usr/bin/gcc-4.0 -V >&5 gcc-4.0: argument to `-V' is missing configure:3002: $? = 1
here's the build output from sudo install giflib

Assigning to maintainer.
What version of Xcode do you have installed? For 10.5, make sure it's either 3.0 (available on the 10.5 DVD), or 3.1 (available for download).

once I upgraded Xcode to v2.4.1 from the leopard dvd ( I had an old version before)- it worked like a charm. Thanks for the help & sorry for the trouble.

I upgraded from Xcode 2.4.1 to Xcode 3.0 and that fixed everything. I wasn't clear before.
