tcl 8.5.7 breaks

My setup is 10.6.1, xcode 3.2 port selfupdate port upgrade outdated

The only port that was updated was tcl.

This probably means that Tcl wasn't installed properly.

Ports now seems to be completely broken, i.e. the port command barfs forth stuff like

It would appear that the install didn't finish, because the "init.tcl" for 8.5.7 referenced above is still in the build area.

I see that there have been a few tickets for tcl/tk since tcl was updated on 10/2, but none that looked quite like this. I'm new to macports, and don't have all that many installed, so I can probably just do a clean reinstall.

activating the old version of tcl should get you going again:

sudo port activate tcl @8.5.6_0+darwin+universal

There is no practical way to make gcc ignore /usr/local, so having anything installed there can easily break your builds.

Of course you are right and i worked around that problem by moving the headers out of the way while building. I thought it might me interesting for the ticket, as i have a pretty standard 10.6.1 setup. Where might those headers come from?

On my 10.4.11 machine, the problem is in /opt/local. So it's MacPorts or Darwin. That does make diagnosis easier:

$ port provides /opt/local/include/mach-o/arch.h
odcctools
$

# port deactivate odcctools

was enough to allow the upgrade to succeed.
