port install bonnie fails with 'can't read "distfile": no such variable'

Tried to install 'bonnie' but it fails with the following message:

sudo port install bonnie

Tried clean install attempt sudo port clean --all bonnie , sudo port install bonnie

Current version is 1.9.1 (verified with sudo port -v selfupdate
