Description (last modified by ryandesign (Ryan Carsten Schmidt))
I'm an engineering student who wrote a new control package [1] for Octave. However, there's a bug in Octave's 3.2.x series (which should have been fixed in 3.3.51) which prevented me from releasing the package on OctaveForge.
Therefore I'm asking kindly to add the recent Octave development version 3.3.52 to MacPorts in addition to the production release 3.2.4 (similar to the GCC Betas on MacPorts). This would help me getting my package ready for the eagerly awaited Octave 3.4.x series. Unfortunately, I am unable to build Octave without Porticus ;-)
Best Regards,
Lukas

According to various bug reports, Octave version 3.3.52 has potential issues (on both Linux and OSX). Issues are more likely on OSX 10.6.2 or earlier, and XCode 3.2.2 or earlier. Not guaranteed, but potential. See also, for examples:

I went ahead and checked in what I have, since the Portfile itself seems to be OK. Octave 3.3.52 still had bugs in it that the upstream is working to fix, so this port may or may not work correctly depending on selected variant and/or OSX version. But, that's what a 'devel' type is for, right :)
